HARRISON, New York: One person was killed and another person aboard was injured after a small plane crashed onto an interstate highway in New York, authorities said.
Interstate 684 in Harrison was closed after the crash. It is about 25 miles northeast of Manhattan in Westchester County, around 7 p.m. on December 12.
A video showed the damaged white plane against a guardrail in the center median, with emergency vehicles blocking all lanes of traffic.
Governor Kathy Hochul said the Department of Environmental Conservation was on the scene to clean up spilled aviation fuel.
"My heart goes out to the loved ones of those on board during this tragic incident, and I am praying for a safe recovery for the injured individual," The Associated Press quoted Hochul as saying.
